Chuck Everhart, Yoga Instructor Chuck (Ganesh) is a yoga student for over 17 years with most of his practice with Sivananda Hatha Yoga. He began teaching 10 years ago when his Guru, Swami Gurudevananda (Sita Frenkel), first encouraged me to pursue teaching. After many years of study and continued teaching, he is a registered yoga instructor with Yoga Alliance, 500-RYT and 500-YET, classically trained in Sivananda Style Hatha Yoga. The focus remains on classic asana, pranayama and relaxation. The class style begins slow warming the body with stretches, moving to Sun Salutations, then on to various asanas for deeper work. Chuck has a diverse and extensive history of both personal and professional yoga experience. His study and practice includes experiences from here in the United States , the Bahamas , and most importantly, Rishikesh , India . He studied in the Sivananda Ashram in Rishikesh , India , and received Mantra Diksha from Swami Chidananda in 1995. As a member of the Divine Life Society of Maryland, he also has the opportunity to experience the philosophical and spiritual side of yoga practice. In the West we often focus on just one limb of the eight limbs of yoga, the physical practice of Hatha Yoga Asana. However, he tries to pass on the more subtle, spiritual aspects of yoga practice in his teaching. He received my spiritual name “Ganesh” from his Guru, Swami Gurudevananda in 2004. He recently completed a teacher training intensive workshop at Yogaville in the Integral Yoga tradition called the "Art of Teaching", focusing on the importanc e of maintaining tradition while adapting to the changing needs of his students. |
